Pool Tips: How to deal with ash in the pool
As everyone can see, there is plenty of smoke and ash in the air across the Gold Coast. It is entirely likely that the microscopic ash particles will fall into the pools on the Gold Coast.
This is going to have an impact on the water balance. Chlorine demand will be increased, as will the phosphate levels. The extra organic material in the water is also likely to increase combined chlorine levels, and it may be necessary to oxidise the pool.
There are specific specialty chemicals that we use to treat phosphates and to oxidise.
Aesthetically, the pool water may become cloudy, or simply not have that sparkle that you like. To treat this, we would dose a specialty clarifier to help the system capture the ash in the filter.
As our Pool Technicians do their VIP Regular Services, we are doing our best to let our VIP customers know what's going on. If you are not on our Service schedule, feel free to bring a water sample into either of our shops at Bundall or Runaway Bay
Finally, our best wishes go out to those effected by the bushfires in NSW and QLD. Stay safe.
