 Frequently Asked Questions

Will Pool Water Damage Your Lawn?

To keep their Gold Coast pools sanitised, many pool owners opt for a saltwater chlorinator. The conversion of salt to chlorine allows the chlorinator to ensure your pool remains both healthy and clean. As a result, your pool water will contain concentrated amounts of salt and high levels of chlorine, and while our team doesn't have any gardeners onboard, we've seen the damage that can do to lawns. Avoiding spilling salt onto your lawn and keeping the pool's chlorine levels in check is the easiest way to protect your lawn from this damage. For help with all pool care in Upper Coomera, call us today on (07) 5537 3341.

Are Pool Lights Considered Low Voltage?

They sure are. The low voltage nature of these lights renders them safe to have in your pool. These lights use about 12 volts of power thanks a transformer, which is used to reduce the voltage to a safe level. We can help you find modern pool lights that utilise LEDs to allow for a variety of features, such as remote control or colour-changing functionality. For all pool care in Upper Coomera, reach out to the Active Pool Supplies team on (07) 5537 3341.

Can A Pool Cover Keep You And Your Pool Safe?

Relying on a pool cover simply isn't enough to make sure everyone is safe around your pool. The swimming pool safety laws of Australia clearly lay out a comprehensive list of safety requirements, including all necessary fencing that a pool will require. It takes more than a pool cover to stop accidents from occurring. Here at Active Pool Supplies, our Bundall and Runaway Bay stores can help you answer any questions you may have about pool covers or pool safety in the Gold Coast, and you're welcome to either visit us in-store or reach out to us at (07) 5537 3341.

Can I Keep My Pool Safe From Algae?

Keeping your pool water healthy and balanced requires the appropriate use of sanitiser. Chlorine is the most common tool for keeping your pool well maintained, as it can help you kill any small organisms, bacteria, or algae present within your pool water. Chlorinating your pool can be done in a number of different ways. Manually chlorinating your pool on a regular basis was a common option in the past. These days, however, the most common and easiest method of sanitising Upper Coomera pools is by installing a saltwater chlorinator in the filtration system. Salt (or other suitable mineral with a salt content) is added to the pool water in sufficient quantity so that as the pool water passes the chlorinator cell, through the process of electrolysis a soluble hypochlorous gas is dispersed into the water which acts as the sanitiser to kill the algae and other bacteria present in the water. For the chlorine to work effectively, the pool water must be balanced so that it remains at the optimal pH level. It's also important that you filter the pool water appropriately, and that you regularly remove dead algae and bacteria from the filter. Cleaning the floors and walls of the pool to remove dirt, dust, and debris is also critical to preventing algae, as is good water flow.

Is It Bad For My Pool To Greatly Alter It's Chemical Balance Too Quickly?

To keep your pool water healthy, you'll need to perform regular upkeep and maintenance on your pool. Keeping the chemical balance of your pool well-maintained is a delicate process, and you should make sure you don't try to rush through it. Active Pool Supplies are the experts in all matters related to pools, and can help you make sure you're maintaining the chemical balance in your pool in the best ways possible. Get in touch with us on (07) 5537 3341 about all pool care in Upper Coomera.

Generally, you should avoid trying to make large changes to your pool's chemical balance all at once. Instead, you should make small changes by adding small amounts of chemicals. Once you have, you should leave them to rest with a running filter for a few hours, and then test the water. Using large amounts of chemical in a single pass deprives you of the ability to test the water repeatedly and stop once you've achieved perfection, which you can do after smaller changes. Correcting the influence of large amounts of chemical can be difficult, and so by making large changes all at once, you may find yourself in a tough spot. Don't make large changes to the chemical balance of your pool in a single pass if you're trying to keep it well-maintained.
