 Frequently Asked Questions

Does Grass Die When Exposed To Pool Water?

To keep their Gold Coast pools sanitised, many pool owners opt for a saltwater chlorinator. The conversion of salt to chlorine allows the chlorinator to ensure your pool remains both healthy and clean. As a result, your pool water will contain concentrated amounts of salt and high levels of chlorine, and while our team doesn't have any gardeners onboard, we've seen the damage that can do to lawns. Avoiding spilling salt onto your lawn and keeping the pool's chlorine levels in check is the easiest way to protect your lawn from this damage. No matter what your question, if you need help with pool care in Tallebudgera, call us on (07) 5537 3341.

Are Pool Lights Rated For Lower Voltages Than Other Home Appliances?

They sure are. The low voltage nature of these lights renders them safe to have in your pool. These lights use about 12 volts of power thanks a transformer, which is used to reduce the voltage to a safe level. We can help you find modern pool lights that utilise LEDs to allow for a variety of features, such as remote control or colour-changing functionality. Active Pool Supplies and our team can help you with all pool care in Tallebudgera - just call our team on (07) 5537 3341.

Are Pool Covers Safe?

Relying on a pool cover simply isn't enough to make sure everyone is safe around your pool. The swimming pool safety laws of Australia clearly lay out a comprehensive list of safety requirements, including all necessary fencing that a pool will require. It takes more than a pool cover to stop accidents from occurring. Here at Active Pool Supplies, our Bundall and Runaway Bay stores can help you answer any questions you may have about pool covers or pool safety in the Gold Coast, and you're welcome to either visit us in-store or reach out to us at (07) 5537 3341.

How Do I Stop Algae From Growing In My Pool?

Keeping your pool water healthy and balanced requires the appropriate use of sanitiser. Chlorine is the most common tool for keeping your pool well maintained, as it can help you kill any small organisms, bacteria, or algae present within your pool water. Chlorinating your pool can be done in a number of different ways. Manually chlorinating your pool on a regular basis was a common option in the past. Fortunately, you can save time maintain your Tallebudgera pool with a filtration system that utilises a saltwater chlorinator. Salt (or other suitable mineral with a salt content) is added to the pool water in sufficient quantity so that as the pool water passes the chlorinator cell, through the process of electrolysis a soluble hypochlorous gas is dispersed into the water which acts as the sanitiser to kill the algae and other bacteria present in the water. Your pool water will need to be maintained at an appropriate pH level to ensure the chlorine treatment remains effective. Your pool water will also need to be well-filtered, and your filter will need to be cleaned of the dead algae and bacteria that it captures. Your pool will also benefit from good water flow and routine brushing of the walls and floor of the pool to remove debris, dirt, and dust.

Is It Bad For My Pool To Greatly Alter It's Chemical Balance Too Quickly?

To keep your pool water healthy, you'll need to perform regular upkeep and maintenance on your pool. Keeping the chemical balance of your pool well-maintained is a delicate process, and you should make sure you don't try to rush through it. Active Pool Supplies are the experts in all matters related to pools, and can help you make sure you're maintaining the chemical balance in your pool in the best ways possible. Get in touch with us on (07) 5537 3341 about all pool care in Tallebudgera.

Avoid greatly altering the chemical balance of your pool in a single pass wherever possible. Instead, you should make small changes by adding small amounts of chemicals. Test the water's chemical levels a few hours after each small change, though it is important that you leave it to rest with the filter running in the interim. The chemical balance of your pool can be perfected by making multiple small changes and testing the water after each one, which you might not be able to do if you use large amounts of chemical at once. It's possible that by adding large amounts of chemical in a single pass, you'll find yourself having made a large change that will be hard to correct. Rather than making a single, large change to your pool's chemical balance, it's important that you make multiple smaller changes instead.
