 Frequently Asked Questions

Will Pool Water Damage Your Lawn?

To keep their Gold Coast pools sanitised, many pool owners opt for a saltwater chlorinator. The conversion of salt to chlorine allows the chlorinator to ensure your pool remains both healthy and clean. Though out team may not be gardeners, we've found over the years that the subsequent high levels of chlorine and concentrated amounts of salt can cause damage to your lawn. Avoiding spilling salt onto your lawn and keeping the pool's chlorine levels in check is the easiest way to protect your lawn from this damage. For help with all pool care in Isle of Capri, call us today on (07) 5537 3341.

Is It True That Pool Lights Are Low Voltage?

They sure are. The low voltage nature of these lights renders them safe to have in your pool. A transformer is used to reduce the voltage of the lights to a safe level of about 12 volts. We can help you find modern pool lights that utilise LEDs to allow for a variety of features, such as remote control or colour-changing functionality. For all pool care in Isle of Capri, reach out to the Active Pool Supplies team on (07) 5537 3341.

Is Your Pool Safer If You Have A Pool Cover?

Relying on a pool cover simply isn't enough to make sure everyone is safe around your pool. The swimming pool safety laws of Australia clearly lay out a comprehensive list of safety requirements, including all necessary fencing that a pool will require. On its own, a pool cover will not prevent accidents from occurring. Here at Active Pool Supplies, our Bundall and Runaway Bay stores can help you answer any questions you may have about pool covers or pool safety in the Gold Coast, and you're welcome to either visit us in-store or reach out to us at (07) 5537 3341.

Can I Prevent Algae From Growing In My Pool?

Keeping your pool water healthy and balanced requires the appropriate use of sanitiser. Chlorine is the most common tool for keeping your pool well maintained, as it can help you kill any small organisms, bacteria, or algae present within your pool water. Adding chlorine to your pool can be done in a variety of manners. Manually chlorinating your pool on a regular basis was a common option in the past. These days, however, the most common and easiest method of sanitising Isle of Capri pools is by installing a saltwater chlorinator in the filtration system. The chlorinator cell uses electrolysis to add salt to the pool water, creating a soluble hypochlorous gas that sanitises the pool water by removing algae and bacteria. For the chlorine to work effectively, the pool water must be balanced so that it remains at the optimal pH level. Your pool water will also need to be well-filtered, and your filter will need to be cleaned of the dead algae and bacteria that it captures. Your pool will also benefit from good water flow and routine brushing of the walls and floor of the pool to remove debris, dirt, and dust.

Is It Bad For My Pool To Greatly Alter It's Chemical Balance Too Quickly?

To keep your pool water healthy, you'll need to perform regular upkeep and maintenance on your pool. Keeping the chemical balance of your pool well-maintained is a delicate process, and you should make sure you don't try to rush through it. Fortunately, to learn the best methods of keeping the balance in your pool's chemical levels, you won't need to look any further than Active Pool Supplies. Get in touch with us on (07) 5537 3341 about all pool care in Isle of Capri.

Generally, you should avoid trying to make large changes to your pool's chemical balance all at once. Make smaller changes instead by using smaller amounts of chemicals in any one attempt. Once you have, you should leave them to rest with a running filter for a few hours, and then test the water. The chemical balance of your pool can be perfected by making multiple small changes and testing the water after each one, which you might not be able to do if you use large amounts of chemical at once. It's possible that by adding large amounts of chemical in a single pass, you'll find yourself having made a large change that will be hard to correct. If you're trying to maintain the chemical balance of your pool, you should avoid making large changes all at once.
