Rust on the surface of your pool? Check this pool repair we did at Runaway Bay
16 June 2021
Lucky for Runaway Bay home and pool owner Jeff who came to us about rust spots in his tile work.
Active Pool Supplies has plenty of pool repair talent on our team to deal with many types of pool maintenance and pool repairs, particularly in the winter time when we can fit these projects into our otherwise busy schedule.
On this occasion, our suspicions were confirmed when one of our managers, Brett, went on site to check it out. It can be the case, particularly with aging pools, that water seepage into the concrete can find reinforcing bars (reo) and generate rust which causes bulges or rust welts as was the case with Jeff's pool.
While we can't be sure what we will find when we start the work, we took it on.
Steve who is a senior repairer and installer on our team was soon on the job of digging and found the rusting reo sections as expected. The rusting sections were removed and the internal repair site coated with epoxy to stop any water getting to the other reo bars in the vicinity. The holes were then back filled with construction grade concrete.
The icing on the cake was supplied by Jeff who had extra tiles matching the existing finish, so after replacing the tiles and adding new grout, the repair spots completely disappeared, as did the rust spots, restoring the classic pool-scape to all its glory.
